I was looking into buying a used road bike and found a nice looking Bauer Vortex. i can't seem to find any information about the company though. They don't seem to make bikes anymore. The bike is $240 and comes with alex rims DM18, alloy frame, full Shimano 105 grouppo, computer, Terry Liberator Ti Race Saddle. This a good deal or am I getting taken for a ride?

I have a schwinn bike I am having trouble identifing. I seen a picture like it under a 1970 runabout which is green on this web site. The one I have looks just like that one but it has alot wider tire on the rear,16x2.125 rear 16x1 3/4 front the serial number is BD63238 I think that tells me it is a 1968 model? Does anyone know anything about this bike? How much is it worth? Or were there alot of this model made? Any info would be greatly appeciated. Rory Schubert

Dear Jeanette,

I am studying the area's industrial history and landed on your post. Unfortunately, I will not be able to help you, but I must say that I would be very curious to see it. If you do have pictures, I would be grateful if you could send them.

Take care,

Konstantin

I have the same one, it's called "Velta - Kama". It was the most popular bike from late 70s till mid. 90s. This bike is a legend! If it is orange, it was made in the end of 70s in the begginning of 80. It has everlast frame.
