I have a green folding bicycle, circa 1970 called HYDA BIKE - it's awesome, but I don't know anything about it except that perhaps it's Italian made. It is heavy. There is no top tube, just bottom. It has a rear rack integrated w/the frame and quick release for folding, seat height, post height, etc. Is there anyone out there that could shed some light on the origins and perhaps value? I'll try to get some pics up too. by: 72.34.8.243
Your description sounds like any number of small-wheel folders that were made in the 60s and 70s by just about every bike manufacturer in Europe. "Hyda Bike" is a cute pun, but it means nothing to me. I doubt it has any value to a collector. by: 216.15.114.27
I recently found and old Columbia 3 wheeled side by side tandem. I could not find any S/N's or markings other than the chain gaurds that have the Columbia name. They look like the original gaurds because of the special mounting hardware. This has 20 inch tires and I can not find any pics or info on the web. Does anyone know the year something like this may have been made ? Any info would be appreciated. I can send pics via email if that would help Thanks by: 70.121.155.18
I recently came across a Sears Tote Cycle. Wow..there's not really much info about these on the web! It's been painted at some time in it's life (all black) but appears to be in really good condition. The seat looks really good too. Can anyone point me to more info about these bikes? Where would the serial number be located? How to date the production year? etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. by: 216.234.107.90
There are microfilms of old Sears catalogs at research libraries around the country. You can find out more at the Sears website. Look it up, you'll be the expert. by: 216.15.114.27
hi, i have a folding bike that i cannot seem to locate info for. elite is written on down tube, along with linux or link or something. there's a sticker with some german writing on it. appears to be from around 1980, maybe a little earlier. chrome fenders and spring rear rack. plastic fork crown caps and wing nuts to adjust seat and handlebar tubes. any ideas? by: 128.235.6.58
actually, it's a Luxus Elite...after taking a closer look. there used to be a generator mounted off a bracket on the front, but the front light is gone, leaving holes in the fender. any idea where i can get replacement fenders for a bike like this, 20" wheels. i'd like to get chrome. these fenders don't clean up to a shine...they're either scratched and dull or were never meant to shine. any help is appreciated. by: 128.235.6.58
Aluminum fenders? (try a magnet) I doubt you'll find correct fenders for it (unless you find a whole bike) by: 216.15.114.27
yes, they do appear to be aluminum. very light weight and somewhat dull, compared to the chrome fenders on my other bikes. i guess i'll just make sure they're clean and use as is. they don't look that bad for a beater like this; i only paid 10 bucks for it. by: 128.235.6.58
