FOR SALE:   Caloi Dobravel folding bicycle circa 1960 posted by: Kelda van Heerden on 6/25/2007 at 9:51:38 AM
I have a folding bicycle manufactured by a firm called Caloi, during the 1960s. I know that the bicycle is Brazilian (though the manufacturer Caloi was/is an Italian company based in Brazil).

I would like to know what this bicycle might be worth. I have searched all major online auctions and have not found anything similar. Please help.
I am based in South Africa.

MISC:   Serial Number Location posted by: Bob on 6/24/2007 at 5:16:55 AM
I just bought a tandem at a garage sale for $7, so you know what I have. Single speed, no coaster brake (only from hand brake, yikes) 26 x 1-3/8 tires. It is pretty much junk. But I figure it is a project. It has been repainted several times. No fenders (mud guards), no chain guards. The handle grips say Schwinn and the tires are Wards Riverside. So, I really have no idea what I bought

My first question is, where does one look for serial numbers that might help me identify what this was at one time?

If you can help with this I have another question about the odd combination of sprockets (if that's the correct term) I found on the one piece cranks.

More important than a serial number is to post a picture

Needed a S/A 3speed gear cable in Tandem length.Used a summit universal gear wire with the two different ends---snip off the hub end.For the S/A shifter that uses the small tube end I simply filed(drimel)the small end ---it fits and works great---the universal quick release swival attached the adj. barrle to the hub.Really not hard to keep an old english 3 speed on the road---sam

I had a Japanese 3-speed SA clone shifter which fit a standard derailer cable end just fine. The only problem I find is that the cable seems to be stretching. I keep losing first gear (until I readjust) just when I need it!
