I just bought this bike at a swap-meet and I wanted to find out more about it. The only Identifying characteristics are a Mesinger seat and a front hub that says Durex and underneath that the number 58, underneath that Made in Germany. I have a picture here:

The web address came out wrong, where it says
"....edu/'rkstraka...", the ' should be a squiggly line ' (the upper left key on keyboard), it seems the sybol was changed when I posted the msg

MISC:   What is it? posted by: Christine on 4/23/2005 at 2:50:55 PM
I have an old bike laying around, mostly chrome with some surface rust and no markings to identify it by other than the serial number. I'm wondering if it's worth anything, but to find that out I probably ought to first know what it is. The number is 502 469110 197923 and is located on the tail end of the rear fork. Bendix made the gear apparatus and rear brakes. It's got either a girl's or step-through frame and fenders on both tires. My dad guesses it's dated 1958 to 1962 but don't hold me to that. If anyone knows what this is I'd really appreciate some info. Thanks. Christine
