| My father inlaw has a Smith motor Wheel that is totaly complete except for the throttle cable.It is in super shape.I have seen parts of them on e bay,but none complete.How much could this be worth. |

| Breaking News from The Globe and Mail Dorel buys bicycle firm for $310-million (U.S.) Tuesday, January 13, 2004 Montreal-based Dorel Industries Ltd. says it is buying leading bicycle firm Pacific Cycle for $310-million (U.S.), as the consumer products company eyes the recreational business for growth. In Toronto, its B class shares jumped $5 or 14.3 per cent to $40. Pacific Cycle has a 27 per cent market share of U.S. bicycle sales and manufactures such brands as Schwinn, Mongoose, BMX and GT bicycle brands. We intend to leverage Pacific's powerful brands to create a platform for future growth in leisure and recreational products, including natural extensions in our juvenile segment. Dorel CEO Martin Schwartz said in a statement Tuesday. Wisconsin-based Pacific Cycle has annual sales of $325-million, Dorel said. The acquisition is expected to add at least 50 cents a share to Dorel's fiscal 2004 earnings and 25 cents a share related to the company's average tax rate. With a work force of 4,800, Dorel makes products ranging from infant car seats and strollers to furniture. Its 2002 revenue was $992-million. Dorel says the U.S. bicycle industry has annual sales of $5.5-billion, with new bicycles accounting for $2.5-billion. Pacific Cycle sells about 5 million bicycles a year and Dorel says it sees potential to gain additional market share. Pacific Cycle sells more bicycles than anyone else in the U.S. bicycle industry and its portfolio of powerful brands is one of the strongest in the sporting goods industry, Mr. Schwartz said. Its business model is very similar to ours and provides numerous opportunities to significantly strengthen Dorel's position as a global consumer products company. The Montreal firm says Pacific Cycle's operations resemble Dorel's distribution channels and outsourcing, particularly in Asia. Both companies have developed high quality products through domestic design, overseas sourcing and intensive marketing through long-established retailer relationships. Dorel is financing the acquisition, from private investment group led by Wind Point Partners, through debt. Dorel has amended its credit facilities. "This acquisition, along with Dorel's existing businesses, will generate sufficient cash flow to pay down debt, he said. Pacific Cycle's other products include Roadmaster, InStep, Pacific, and Murray labels. | I had an old Schwinn pea picker I got for my 7th birthday and I rode the crap out of this bike.I Recently spoke to a child hood friend who asked ... Do you remeber when we went fishing and you gave me a ride down to the lake ? Do I ever! We left that morning poles tied to our bikes, tackle box tied to the sissy bar,brown bag lunches, bait and coke money ready to take that 3 mile down hill coast we loved! My friend got about fifty yards away from home and boom Flat tire! no patches,no tools, and no time, no problem . He jumped on my handle bars, his brother tied off his gear on his bike and we were off. I am going down Big Tree Road faster than I had ever gone! The extra weight was like the lead in a pine wood derby car we were flying!! Here comes his brother Brian all tucked like a street racer brining up the rear he looks over to me as if to challenge me, I point at his brother Jeff on my front end and nod to him as if to say "oh yeah check this out" as I let go of the handle bars one - one thousand, two - one thousand, three- one thousand I cant believe it! straight as an arrow at break neck speed this is amazing no hands how cool is this ! I grab the bars and Brian and I cackle at he defiance of my stunt . I decide to share the secret with my passenger.I look at Brian and do it again , I let go of the bars again as if on rails, balance and speed in harmony , slowly I move my hands over the unsuspecting passenger's sholders,my arms fully extended so he can see I'm not holding the bars. Jeff panics ! He shifts his weight the bars turn the bike lurches right I try to grab the bar and miss. The next couple of seconds are etched into my mind forever. Jeff falls forward and lands on the front tire which throws him ahead of me , he falls face down and spread eagle on the road and I run up his behind. Jeff and the bike go one way I go another and we endup in a pile all over the road.Fishing tackle all over, both fishingpoles broken, reels with line strewn across the road . We both had Bruised contact points, Ripped jeans, scrapped knees and elbows and my prize a chipped tooth. But Jeff had this scrape on his forearm that looked like someone used a cheese grater to remove a few unwanted layers of skin. You see we started back to school two weeks after our accident and Jeff had signed up for football that year, and wrestling after that so it took Jeffs arm about 9 months to get better. 27 years later we dont talk about it much unless were fishing, or drinking, or watching football |

| Your story sounds a lot like what my brothers and I did as kids. Ahh, so many bikes we went through. I wish we could have them all back now. I sure miss them, and people are paying good money for them. We used our bikes to peddle to a nearby creek and fished all day with bamboo poles and nightcrawlers we picked up the night before...PS, I still have the scar also, but not as bad as the fall you described. I used to love riding full speed through deep rain puddles in the side streets of our little town. One wipeout has left an area near my knee that reminds me of that wipeout each time I look at it. |
