MISC:   HELP me date my SCHWINN Hollywood posted by: nancy on 8/20/2001 at 11:03:46 AM
i just bought a Schwinn Hollywood bike which i was led to believe was from the 60's. However, it was in such immaculate shape that i asked if it was a repro. now i see that they were made into the 70's. HOW CAN I DATE my bike?
THANKS!

Hollywoods were made from the late 40's into the 70's. Post your serial number or look it up here at this web site yourself.

what im looking for is to find out what year it was made and about how much it may be worth as that alot of people that i have talked to have never heard of one like i have

RE:RE:RE:MISC:   antique tandem bikes posted by MNSmith on 8/22/2001 at 1:33:34 PM
You'll need to find the serial number to tell how old it is. On Schwinn's you will find it in one of three places. The headtube, the rear dropout ( where the rear wheel bolts to ), or underneath one of the crank housings. Take that number and post it here or compare it to the numbers on the serial number chart on this website. It might also help you to repost your question in the "Balloon Tire And Middleweight" board.

It is starting to sound like it is not a Schwinn. Check your bike against those in the database here at this website. Or visit my site, http://www.concentric.net/%7Errrrguy/bike.html . I have a Schwinn Twinn on my front page.

MISC:    Request info. posted by: Shep on 7/15/2001 at 10:53:05 PM
I bought a 77 Schwinn Town & Country tri wheeler at a yard
sale, its a single speed in good condition having only
minor chips in the paint. It has 24in wheels and the rear
tires are fastback slicks. Were these bikes originally
equipped with these tires?, does anyone know?.
I`ve been trying to find info about the triwheelers but
haven`t been able to find much about them, any info. or
suggestions about where to look would be great.

I've seen original Town & Country tri-wheelers with Schwinn sliks.
They may be branded "Schwinn Fastback", but they won't fit a Sting-Ray Fastback becuase they're 24" not 20"

RE:MISC:    Request info. posted by shep on 7/18/2001 at 9:03:27 PM
but they would fit a manta ray, correct

Yessir, they would!

WANTED:   Information about Ross Barracuda posted by: DS on 7/8/2001 at 6:05:52 PM
I have a purple Ross Barracuda with a 3-speed shifter on the frame. It has a sparkly silver seat. Everything is original. It's in very good condition -- before I bought it 2 years ago, it looked like it had never been ridden. I've done some light riding. Someone wants to buy it from me, but I don't know how much to ask for it. Could anyone help me out? How would I find out the year it was made?

Try posting your question under the "Musclebike" topic.
