Folks, I just picked up an "Original Standard" 28 inch male frame bike and need some help dating it. It is black with white markings and pin striping. It has a WECO front hub and KOMET rear hub. It is single speed with a large front caliper type brake which drops through the front fender. The tires are 28 inch Veith brand. Obviously it is German but what period? I'm thinking post war 50s but don't really know. Paid $100 for it. Any ideas? Thanks, Neil Hever Allentown, PA

I've just found and old raleigh tricycle in a bush! It's for a 3-5yr old child. It has solid wheels with hard rubber edges.. red and yellow paint work. The handlebars swoop backwards and down towards the back wheel and has a white seat. It's fixed wheeled, no brakes and what looks like a little running board as part of the back wheel axle assembly. My little 3 yr old boy took to it instantly and now he loves it more than all his other bikes (and this is only the first evening he's had it!) I would like to know: 1) what model is it and where can i find it on the web 2) how can I get spare parts (!!!) to restore it pleeeees help, I want to recondition it so it will last forever - its a beautiful design thanks sam
Probably a Raleigh Winkie. There are chaincase parts for sale for those on this site.
cal, thanks for the reply - the pedals on this little trike go direct to the front wheel - I should have said - and it has black 'spokes' painted on the solid wheels. Any advice on where else I can seek info on this great old design? thx again sam
Keep an eye on e- bay. This stuff is showing up there at the very least it is good for refrence. Raleigh had a whole line of childrens bicycles/ trundle toys/tricycles more than just the Winkie too. I would need a picture of the tricycle to help you. I do have some later day catalogs that show the childrens stuff. E -mail me off list and I can help possibly.
I'm delighted to hear that he loves it.
I have a 1950's Rollfast girl's bike. I am trying to find out the exact year it was made. I have the serial no. on the rearend, but was wondering if it is the correct one. It reads as follows: 28 F&S 57 M Kome1 Super D.R.P-D.B.P. MADE IN GERMANY. Can you please tell me a little more info on this? Thanks. Hope to hear from someone soon.
Correction on the serial no., instead of 28, it's 2.8!
Komet Super is a coaster brake found on late 50s-60s bikes. There are no Rolfast serial #'s avalable. A more complete discription or picture might help narrow it down. Try the balloon/midweight forum.

Like how old, where to find serial numbers or anything...Any info anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance. Monique |
I am new to this too, but have been searching for an dutch bike since. I came across to Dutch companies Batavus and Gazelle. They both have websites. www.batavus.nl www.gazelle.nl I have been toying with the idea of ordering one from Gazelle. They make the classic look and ride. Any pictures of yours? any interest is selling? chris
Chris I also found the Batavus site and the other. But I can't read Dutch. I am also working on getting some pictures of it. Do you have any clue as to where the serial numbers might be located? And as far as selling it, there is always a chance. Monique

I just bought two Schwin Town & Country tricycles and I was wondering how much they would be worth, give or take a little. They do have some rust and a gie sprayed one to try and chrome out the wheels.
Are they 1 or 3 speeds? 26" wheels or 24"? At any rate, they are great collectible items. I find 3-wheelers hard to ride. Too flat around corners!
Their 3 speeds.
