| just oneof the many off brand bikes. not a well made bike. not to hard to find and not to collectabe. a fun bike to try your had at restoration or modify. i have a few and never gave over $60.00 for one. |

| I spent a lot of time riding bicycles as a child, and I started playing guitar as a teenager. Naturally, I combined the two activities. Check out http://www.thegrid.net/thebicyclingguitarist to see a picture of me on my Schwinn Continental in a parade in Suisun City, CA in October 1994. I am playing a Fender strat guitar through a tiny battery-powered amp mounted behind my seatpost. I actually rode while simultaneously playing guitar about twenty/thirty miles a day three hundred days a year from 1980-1995 in and around the towns of Fairfield, Suisun City, and Vacaville in Solano County, California (total: about fifteen thousand miles). I wrote many songs "on the road". I rode all hours of the day and night, 24/7, commuting to the next town and back non-stop playing all the way up and down hills, around turns, in traffic, etc.; going to Denny's for breakfast, lunch, or dinner to meet my mom and her senior citizen friends there; going shopping (locking up the bike and carrying the guitar into the store, carrying items home in a backpack or on a rack over the rear wheels), etc. I lived near Dover Park in Fairfield that has a couple of duck ponds with paths around them. For many years I spent many hours late at night or in the wee hours of the morning looping around these ponds in figure eights, changing directions at random at the picnic tables, etc. Tens of thousands of people saw me over the years. Most were encouraging. Some were mean. One punk mugged me and spent six months in jail. He didn't get my guitar, but it and me still carry scars from that assault. I really like the Schwinn ten-speed because of its weight. This gives me stability that a lighter bike would not have. The guitar increases my moment of inertia like the balance pole of a high-wire artist. Since I ride with no hands the front wheel has hardly any weight on it and it glides over obstacles such as rocks and potholes. My stage name is "The Bicycling Guitarist". The band I founded broke up some years ago. I just started riding again and I ache all over now after only a twenty-minute ride. Last week I paid a local bike shop to install all-new bearings, grease, cables, tires, tubes and brake pads on my Continental. I repainted it, polished it, and waxed it. It has never been so spoiled. With the help of the date code database here, and especially learning from another person about the meaning of the four digits lightly stamped on the head badge, I just figured out today that my bike was built on September 27, 1976. Believe it or not, but it will be honored with a birthday party every year from now on starting with this one. This is one long message, but hey, I had a lot to say. Peace |

| I just purchased a 1930's Wittkop Tricycle from Germany for my son. I know very little about vintage Bikes and am haveing trouble findng any info about this trike. If you can offer any information on Wittkop or tips on restoring old Bikes. It is a very cool design. The rear wheels are chain driven like a standard bicycle and it has a front hand brake. | I have a "Jonas Oglaend" DBS Sport bike woman's stlye in red. It is made in Norway. I would like to sell it, but I can't find a value on it. It is about 25 years old. My father has the man's stlye in blue. Any help would be appreciated. |
| I'm looking for opinions on the new aluminum Schwinn Panther, I hear it will be no longer made. It seems unique-vintage style frame thats super light and modern in every other aspect. Feedback ? |
| I have an old blue schwinn, with a 2 speed kickback. The serial number is H356497. One person told me it was 1951, someone else 1963. How can I find out what I have and how much it is worth? Thank you. |
| depemds on the location of the number. If its under the pedeal crank housing it would be a 51 if its back by the drop out by the barke arm it would be a 63. |
| Most likely a 1963. 1951 would be too early for the kickback. Not that it couldn't have been added later. |

| I would like to join or start a club in which owners of classic bikes can get together and cruise through various parts of Nassau county (or Suffolk). Does such a group exist. California seems to be having all the fun. What about us? |
| Hi all-- I just came back froim a wonderful exhibit of vintage cycles at the Lockwood-Matthews Museum in Norwalk, CT. I am an avid road cyclist and now have a great interest in high-wheelers, bone-shakers etc. Do any of you know of a club in my area (Middletown, NY)- or a resource tofind clubs?
