I have heard rumors of a bicycle show & swap meet somewhere in PA during October but haven't been able to get any details. Does anyone know if there is really going to be one, and if so where and when?

I *think* the annual meet at the Trexlertown Velodrome is in
October. FWIW. Maybe that will be starting point, anyway.

I have a schwinn tandem that i would like to know more about.The serial number i found just above the forks is JH123430,but couldn't match it with any on the list. The wheel size is 26*1-3/4,and has the original rear wheel, both seats, handle bars,cranks, chain gard and forks .Can someone tell me it's worth and where I could find parts like fenders , wheels and tires,ect.Thanks for your help.

I persuaded my good friend to open the shop on a Sunday and let me downstairs to see the collection he has. He stood there, shifting from foot to foot, Yawning and he made comments like "Time is Money" I froze up not knowing where to start looking, what to buy? What did I want? his hurring me up did not help anything. There was so much stuff! so many neat things to look at! I did not know where to start! It was un- real. I smelled a gas leak and was further dumbfounded to learn that this was old news to him!! He already knew about this,he did not want to let the proper people in to fix it. Now he got crabby with me for not minding my own business! He did not want the repair man to see what all he had collected over the last 60 plus years. Also he did not want to pay the repair bill! Too cheap. We had a heated argument over it and we called immediately to get it fixed pronto. We stood over the fellow while it was fixed. I had to pay the bill! because it was my idea to have this fixed! He could not believe what he saw and kept talking all exitedly and this bothered my friend who never wanted him in there in the first place. Seems the gas man was a collector too. Just our luck.

I had to have a seat, there was too much stuff. It took awhile to believe all the things piled up and hanging up. The crazy, loudmouthed dog was chained up at last and Vic assured me I was safe and not going to get devoured, unless I try to haggle. I managed to pry four magnificent bikes out of his grip. It put any museaum to shame. He has no wife and no children and aside from this awesome collection I do not envy him.

The things that have gone to landfil, or been lost to rust , flood, rot, fire, ignorance and time would fill thousands of barns, basements, attics.

Im currently working on a pile i purchased from an elderly woman that her husband had repaired bikes for years and sold them to the neighbor kids,she said that lots of frames were allready hauled off for scrap but i convinced her to not do that till i can buy some of the stuff in the garage is an organised pile from place to place,cranks here,wheels there hubs over there,on and on and on,I bought an old hiawatha frame so old the brass headbadge has a ship on it
(new one on me) man,i sure would have liked to been there about 1980 to buy stuff when he was still alive.

CAN ANYONE GIVE ME INFORMATION ON THE YEARS THESE WERE SOLD BY SEARS . IT HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY SINCE THE EARLY 60S AS KIDS WE USED IT IN 4TH OF JULY PARADES ETC. I BELIEVE IT WAS USED WHEN WE GOT IT MY DAD HAS PASSED AWAY NO ONE SEEMS TO REMEMBER I WOULD LIKE TO RESTORE IT. A FRIEND OF MINE REMEMBERS THE SAME BIKE BEING USED BY THE DELIVERY BOY AT HIS LOCAL CORNER A&P IN THE 40S OR EARLY 50S IS THIS POSSIBLE ? In the Oldroads picture archive, there was a 1940's female roadmaster, maroon and white. Its listed as a web contribution. I have the 26 inch version and am told this is a 1944 model. If someone could verify the accuracy of this please email me at wpr71245@Msn.com

Hi, my new beaux just gave me a bike. It is a free spirit Brittany, very heavy with Sears handlebars. Could anyone help me out with info. Possible age, maker etc. I'd really appreciate it. Regardless of worth it is a treasure, but I'd like to know a bit of its pedigree b/c I am like that.

My Schwinn 26" coaster bike I got when I was a child (I was born in 1943, got the bike at maybe about 11?)...It is a Blue Scwhinn "Hollywood"bike. "Schwinn" is on both sides of the top "double" bar (girls' bike). A Schwinn "cross-shaped" logo is on the bar below and behind the seat. It has a front basket that came with the bike, and the seat is white/navy blue. This bike has been hanging in my garage for over 27 years, and has never been painted, or any parts ever replaced (I suppose perhaps a tire, but I'm not certain). I'd like to know more about it, but I don't know where the seral number would be.

I'm no expert, but since none have responded yet, I'll give you what I have heard...look on the FRAMED under where the pedals connect and/or at the rear bike on one of the frame "uprights" where the wheel connects...right or wrong I don't know, but that's ALL I know!

you can find the early serial numbers where the back rim hooks onto the frame,on later bikes from the late 60's and early 70's it's on the part of the frame where the fork is attached.

A friend of mine gave me two bikes, one brand is "BPS" the other "Hartog". The BPS was made in Finland and the "hartog" was made in Sweden. Both are quite unique in the accy's on them and construction. Does anyone have any information about these bikes.
