For amny years I have had what I believe is a replica mini High wheeler bicycle. I bought it from a shop I worked at when I was Fifteen. It is a Bridgestone Deko with air tires. A 28" front and a 12 1/2" rear tire. I can't seem to find any info on this bike. Does anyone out there have any info on what it is worth or if it is worth anything at all. Thanks for any info Andy
im looking for a used or new high wheel replica...let me know price, condition, size....etc. thanks!
The Wheelmens meet in Golden was pretty cool, for those that made it you know all about it, for those that didn't I'll bet there is a write up on the Wheelmen's site by now, www.wheelmen.org There were folks from all over the place, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, England, the US of caourse and I think even and Irishman made it too. Lots of fun, nicely put together and the setting was great. I was amazed at the number of replicas out there although there were quite a few originals as well. I got to show my new hybrid bike and got a very nice response. Thank you to all that rode it and gave comment. I'll try to post some pics of the event if I can and am looking forward to going to another meet eventually although the drive out from CA. was a long one! For any one interested, if you get the chance to go to the annual meet, go. You will see a bunch, learn some things and of course meet some great people. Greg Barron RBR Inc. USA
Our bike shop that we bought recently has a 48" wooden wheel that has been in the display window. It looks to be in excellent condition. We also have a couple other antique wooden wheel bicycles in the diplay window. Where can I find out the value of these items?
Yippie, I got the prototype bike done and ready to go to the Colorado meet next week. It is sweet, looks good and rides nicely. It incorporates the G&J head, neck, bar clamps and grips with a bunch of my stock and custom parts to make what I think is a really nice replica. If anyone is interested in seeing pics, then email me and I'll send a few off to you. I figure the new bikes to go for $2200 and I can make you a 38". 48" or 52" bike. Greg
Hi everone, I was lucky and got to test drive Gregs new bike last week. I have to say the bike rides very smooth, and has nice and easy acceleration quality. It's a excellent bike and congratulations to Greg. If you love High wheelers, this is a very good hybrid replica, and owners of this new bike will be proud to be seen ridding one. Don't miss this chance to see and ride the future of a new generation of high wheelers. Best of luck with the new bike Greg. Stay on top Mike

What components were considered 'clip-ons' on turn of the century bicycles? Thanks, its an argument with just a tiny wager for the correct answer..... Larry
"Clip ons" was a term for early bicycle motors and motor wheels.

Thanks for your response....
Do you mean like, hub lamps, watch holders, odometers, bags, different grips and replacement saddles?
I recently found a rideable reproduction Hi-Wheeler made by Boneshaker Bicycle Replicas Inc. in Atlanta, GA. It had a solid rubber tire and appeared to have a 36" to 48" front wheel. I'm sorry I'm not for sure on the exact size of the wheel. The person selling the Hi-wheeler was asking $800 but came down to $600. He also told me his father paid $1,200 for it brand new. Is this a good buy or could I buy a new one at about this same price? If anyone has a good rideable one for sale I am looking. Just thought I would ask the guys who would know. A new Hi-Wheel admirer, Oliver
| Oliver, It sounds like you found one of our bikes in used condition. Used they are worth from whatever someone will pay to full retail. That being said, my bikes start in at $799 and go up to $1495 with a $2200 model on the way. If the bike you are looking at is in good shape and you want it, then $600 is a good deal as you won't be paying retail or freight from California. Best deal for you if it is a 48" wheel. Good luck. | I have a used one of these for sale in DC. I have a picture at home at this address. If you are interested I will email you. Also have three Wheelmen age appropriate ladies bikes for sale. I was a Wheelman for years and now am moving on. I did a century on one of the ladies bikes. |
Wanted Smith, Briggs or Dayton Motor Wheel. Should be fairly complete. Also consider other early bicycle motors.
Ihave a briggs motor wheel it last ran in 1963, not restored in fair shape the casting is broken where it mounts to the bicycle but other thaan that it is compleate.
48" Ridable Bicycle Replica High Wheel, recent total restoration and upgrade to classic model. New: black power coated frame and fork, head set, handlebars and stem (old style-stronger forged steel) re-nickled, torpedo grips, bell and oil lamp, classic saddle. Front hub & rim re-nickled, added stainless steel spokes, new axle bearings and tire, new rear wheel. The new Classic sells for $1,295.00 + $200.00 stainless steel spoke upgrade + tax $123.34 = $1,618.34 on RBR site, considering the high price of most replicas on the market today $1,600 is a bargain. I love this bike it's a joy to ride, arthritis in my arms and hands getting worse, sucks getting old, makes it difficult to ride all of my upright bikes, still love bicycling may buy a new greenspeed or A.S. Engineering trike. So make me an offer before it hits EBAY asking $1,200.00 obo. Bay Marine Diesel 909 Oak St. Alameda, CA. 94501 (510) 435-8870

I just posted a message about a site for purchasing saddle for high-wheel bike, but don't see that my email address went through for any replies. It is: Mrellerger@aol.com. Thanks.
I'm looking for a web site where I may purchase a new saddle for a reproduction high-wheel "boneshaker" bike. If anyone has any info to pass along, it would be greatly appreciated. Please email responses to my address. Many thanks!
Well, if you have one of our bikes and it needs a saddle, you can come right to us to get one if need be. You can go to my site and see what we offer at www.hiwheel.com I also have a seat that isn't pictured. Greg Barron RBR Inc.
I have recently obtained a 50" Ordinary which I believe to have been manufactured by BSA. There are very few markings, but the bearing cases are marked The "B.S.A." Patent 5991. Other markings are B 1 located in several places and 247 on the brake mounting plate. If anyone has any information on this bike it would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone have one of these? If so...I'd appreciate your opinon on it. Thanks. Here it is: http://www.hiwheel.com/antique_replicas/mini_highwheel.htm
Hey, check it out! It's one of my mini H/W bikes! I can tell you all about it, it is an Indian made 28 inch model bike with air tires. It isn't the highest quality bike I've ever imported but it is a fun little toy and a great value for the money... yes, I know, I'm pimping my own stuff but it is a good value for the dollar. A person would be hard pressed to make one for the same amount or even find one for the same amount. Another thing, I just got another load of in and these are made in China. Same price, higher quality, much better bike but the frame is smaller. If you are a large person get the Indian bike, if you are average or small, get the Chinese bike. You can get me direct at 510-769-0980 or gbarron@barrongroup.com. I have them in stock for immediate delivery. $35 UPS for pretty much anywhere in the lower 48. Greg
Anyone got bottom bracket parts for a Mead that has a 2" I.D. BB shell.
I HAVE A OLD FRIEND THAT HAS A 1890 COLUMBIA HI-WHEELER FRONT 60IN & BACK 17IN COLOR BLACK, (GREAT CONDITION)EXCEPT RUBBER ON WHEELS,OLD & CRACKED THERE ORIGINALS,HAS CARBINE LIGHTS,AND DIMOND SHAPE PEDDLES,HAVE PAPERS ON IT. HE WOULD LIKE TO GET A PRICE OF WHAT ITS WORTH. THANKS FOR YOU HELP MARY
Send pictures, Columbias go from $500 to $10000. A 60" bike is kinda rare but without good pics to evaluate or without seeing it in person there is no way to establish a price for the bike. I recently saw two Columbia experts one cost $1300 the other cost $2200, both rideable and original and the cheaper bike was the better bike, go figure... Price is subjective to market, quality and availability. You can send me pics if you have them and I'll tell you what I think if you like... for what that's worth. Greg Barron RBR Inc.
