| I've been looking for pictures of a certain type of bike, but I don't know the name of it. It was the early bicycle (is there any other name it is called by besides "bicycle"?)that had a large front wheel and a small back wheel, and you pushed it along by using your feet and touching the ground. I first saw it in a Buster Keaton movie, and I have to get a picture of it. Does anyone know a website that has pictures, or at least another term for this bike? |

| It is a Hi-Wheeler and you can find pictures in the picture database. You can also see some for sale at this website:

You have to replace the single quote with a tilde, for some reason this forum converts the tilde to a single quote. |

| I have a book with a full-page still picture of Buster on the bike. It was a very heavy wooden bike made especially for the movie -- not an original. I would gladly mail you a copy of the picture. |
MISC: Wellington Wheel Works Headbadge

| At a construction site in Riverside, CA the contractor found an old headbadge. It is oval in shape. At the top of the oval is the copy: "WELLINGTON WHEEL WKS". At the bottom of the oval is the copy "CHICAGO". Diagonally across the middle is the copy (in script) "Wellington" Can anyone provide me with information about this company and the likely age of the bicycle from which it came? I'm guessing highwheeler or early safety. |

| Again wanted to be first poster on this new site. I own the above bike and I am just learning to ride. Great fun but off to a shaky start. I suggest that if you want to learn about early biking then try riding one of these. You will really appreaciate your regular ride. These are still fun but dangerous and tricky. I hope to ride with my fellow Wheelmen this year. |
