MISC:   Columbia SS- FIVE Chopper posted by: Rick on 1/27/2007 at 7:59:47 AM
Hi, I have an old Columbia SS-FIVE Chopper but it is different than any of the other SS-FIVE Choppers that I have ever seen so I was wondering what year mine is from. All of these bikes that I have ever seen and Catalogs all have and show taped Handlebars and no front clear reflector. Mine has original Mushroom handle grips and no tape and a clear reflector in front at the base of the Handlebars. There is also an original Mod plate with the Model and Serial Number stamped on it - it says 630-180-200 No. 0001029. Can anyone tell from this Mod Plate what year this is from and any info at all would be greatly appreciated.

MISC:   Schwinn mini typhoon???? posted by: tittyj on 1/26/2007 at 5:47:25 PM
Hello all-

So i have a bike which puzzles me.... When i bought it the person said it was a '66 stingray. after investigating some more i learned that they didn't make a stingray in red in '66. while cleaning, it has a faint decal of typhoon on the chainguard. sooo, here what i have-- looks like a stingray. red. has a small mini crank. 20" front and rear, but came with a springer and 16" front. typhoon chainguard. single speed coaster. any ideas as to what this is are greatly appreciated. i have pics if any are interested in seeing it. thanks!

AGE / VALUE:   vintage shimano shifter posted by: Bradley on 1/25/2007 at 8:24:13 PM
Today I saved a bike from the scrap yard. It was ready to go except the bike had a pair of Top Tube Shimano shifters on it. each shifter had two levers on it. I have never seen anything like them. Can someone tell me what they would be off of. The bike was a muscle-style bike. It looked like a Heinz 57 bike. Thanks

Two shifters with Two levers each?
Never seen that. Can you take a picture and post it here?
I've seen shifters with 2 levers where one lever is for the gears and the other is for a 'drag brake', but I've never seen a pair of these on one bike.
Also, what is a Heinz 57 bike?
