I have a 1955 Schwinn "America" I would like to find out if I should leave it or make it over? I think it should stay as is but not sure. any input? by: 67.188.37.83
That depends on its condition. by: 199.179.239.253
It is certainly based on condition. Try giving it a good once-over cleanupwise and see how it turns out. If it's unsightly or you're simply not happy with it, then perhaps it's time to consider alternatives. As someone so quaintly put forth on the English Roadster discussion board: "It's only original ONCE." ;-) Cheers! Larry "Boneman" Bone by: 193.38.171.31
This bike was featured in the 1974 JCPenneys Christmas Catalog. The actual catalog description was: ---Boy's 20-In. Single Speed SWINGER. Front caliper hand brake, rear coaster brake. Enamel finish, blue-denim color with orange over spray. Matching (denim) banana seat. Orange grips.---- I'd prefer the blue-orange paint scheme but will consider any color combination, any condition, of similar model. Also interested in any type of factory or personal information, photos, literature about this bicycle. Willing to pay generous price for the right bike. by: 71.224.19.106
Here is the actual catalog photo of the bike I am trying to locate. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I've got the girls version of this bike with a different seat. by: 24.163.52.11
Thanks Russell, do you have any more information? by: 71.224.19.106
i have four fastbacks,,they are all orange.two need paint jobs...what colour orange is it...to match...thanks by: 70.27.24.56
I do not have a paint code for the bikes, but you should be able to match up the color at a hardware store. Just remove one of the front forks. You should find a fair patch of undisturbed paint under there. I work in the paint industry and had some made for myself. Shipping paint requires special paperwork, otherwise I might be able to set you up with some. I'm assuming you are also in Canada somewhere! Who else would have four Fastback100's but a true Canadian. by: 24.66.94.140
hey doug! I've got 2 fastbacks - so do I count as 1/2 canadian?!?!? good to see you're still enjoying the bikes!! the orange is a british standard colour available off the shelf over here, but I guess you guy's will have to match it! - kev keyzkev @hotmail.com by: 193.62.43.125
