Could anyone help me date my bike. Can't seem to find anything out there on the net, especially for a girls bike. I have a Girl Murray Eliminator. Nice Flower power bannana seat, sissy bar, speedomitor. It's been in storage forever and is in great shape. Anyhow, I'm just looking for the year. The logo on the front has been worn by the basket that is attached ( which is cool too, leather straps w/ metal slides) I can e-mail photo or if you can direct me to a link that might help me identify the year I'd appreciate it. Thanks you! by: 152.163.100.5
There is a boy's 1970 Murray Eliminator in the picture database here. That photo may help you narrow down the date. Also, there seems to be a lot of info on Eliminators in the archives. by: 205.179.119.99
Keep looking. there is a guy that has an Eliminator web site, its where i learned about my F1 Whirl o Wheel. he has years, pictures, ads, timeline and all. I wont take less then $500 for my 1969 Murray Eliminator F1 Whirl O Wheel. but people will pay $1000 for a plain garden variety made a million of them schwinn almost daily. by: 68.188.222.250
The Eliminator website I used to run, (dixiebicycles) is no longer online, unfortunatly. I am not online on a regular basis nowdays but if anyone emails me I will try to answer back as soon as I can. I still have the old site saved and have lots more info than I used to have. Eventually I plan to place it back online somehow, if nothing more than a wikipedia entry or something. One quick point of reference for the eliminators and their year of manufactor is the rear dropout. If the dropout is constructed of one solid loop of tubing then the bike is a 68-71, if the droupout is made of a metal plate connected to two seperate tubing pieces then the bike is a 72-74. Email me the pic Liz and I'll take a look at it. by: 67.137.70.239
