I am trying to find information on a bike I owned around about 1978 the bike was I'm sure called a Black Panther and it was exactly the same as a raleigh chopper any information would be much appreciated. by: 62.253.64.14
| Probably one of the many Chinese ripoffs done on the Raleigh Chopper - that Arrow Wedge patent meant nothing to them! See this site ( http://www.nemusclebikes.com/picoverview ) for many photos of the original Raleigh Choppers - there's one Chopper copy somewhere in that list of photos, and Mostlymusclebikes.com has one un-identifiable Chinese Raleigh Chopper copy for sale, partially built. | My little brother found a Raleigh Chopper-look-a-like last week on a dirtpile in Spain. Model Panther brand Derbi. All I could find so long is that Derbi is a spanish motorbike company. He spoke to some locals there, they advised hem to take good care of it, because it was searched-after in Spain. by: 80.200.250.84 |
I've been told our company was mentioned in an article in the LA Times written by written by Valli Herman on September 23, 2004. It is titled "Banana Seats and Sissy Bars". If anyone has a link to the article, or a copy of the article, please let us know. Thanks, Vin - Menotomy Vintage Bicycles, Inc. http://OldRoads.com by: 172.208.64.62

My weathered '76 fastback is faced with a couple of issues, 1)the paint can't be revived to a presentable stage, can you match flambouant red paint from '76 with one of the color choices available today? Can I get a "testimony" yeaah! 2)this is my first Sting-Ray, I know that your original parts are gold but if those parts are to far rusted should you rechrome or is that a "money isn't a problem " option. Would I be better off(richer) finding the replacement parts that are out there? The Fastback seems like the "Rodney Dangerfield"(r.i.p.) of Sting-rays so I'm leary about putting to much money in to this one, a 1976 thumbshift. by: 12.34.182.167

Just finished restoring my 1970 Apple Krate. Getting the derailer to shift gears has been a bit of a problem. I initially attached the cable with the shift lever forward, and chain on the 5th gear cog. It travels from 4th to 1st, but nothing back. Anybody have any hints? thanks in advance, Bill by: 130.33.14.187
I have a similar problem with my 3speed '68 krate, it has a 3speed internal with thumb shifter (cant find a stick shift) that was taken from another bike and put on the krate, it worked perefect on the other bike but I either get 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd and sometimes just 1st, it used to work fine then one of my idiot friends rode it and it never shifted right again, I've adjusted it to death and STILL cant get it to shift right! by: 12.75.173.185
Fixed it this weekend. The derailer was hanging up on 1st gear cog, preventing it from moving back down to 2nd (and other gears). A small twist of the derailer and adjustment of the spring, it now moves up and down the cog freely. by: 130.33.14.187
I've got a green (boy version) 1970 Iverson Dragstripper and I'm looking for any and all parts that I can find for it. It is fairly complete now and I ride it, but it currently has a single-speed hub with a coaster brake. I'd like to find a suitable hub/wheel and 'floor' shifter for it, as well as any other original parts that might be in good shape. The frame, fork, seat, and chainguard are all original and in decent condition, but some of the other components could use replacement. I'd also like to find a set of the original 'Turino 500' tires for it; I have the front skinny, but it is cracking badly. If you have any parts or information, please let me know, I'd really appreciate any info. Thanks very much, Marco by: 66.149.106.98
