Stingray serial numbers are on the left dropout on the frame(near brake lever) on 1963 through 1969 models. The number was moved to the headtube (next to the headbadge) in 1970. 1966 through 68 had the straight ribbed shifter, early 1969s had a curved ribbed shifted, and finaly the last type was late 69 to 73, curved w/3 holes & barrel knob. IN Liz Fried's Stingray book you can see the different Shifters.

bought a columbia playbike and i need a chainguard and fenders for it Can Anyone tell me the measurement dffrence between a regular 20" and a junior size bike??
RE:WANTED: columbia playbike
posted by Leo on 11/28/2002 at 11:47:08 PM
A Junior size bike generally had 16" wheels where the Playbike had 20". The arc of the fender will be different between the two sizes. I have a Playbike 88 in original condition with the 3 speed stick shifter and triple braced chrome front fork. There is some light rust on the chrome fenders and fork. Most of the wear on this bike is from sitting in the cellar. White wall tires. Green paint. Chain guard is in real good condition.
