| Two weeks ago I was offered a purple sears 5 spd. banana bike for $75.00.The owner told me "it's a real nice bike". When I got there it was a thrift shop reject that He paid $50.00 for and was trying His hand at used bike salesman. Later while talking to a well known bike expert I was told that in mint condition and I repeat mint, one would sell for upwards of $300.00 to the right buyer.hope this helps.tom. |

Ithink it had a redlined slick for a back tire. said Jumbo Jet on the chainguard. Please help me re-live some old memories with some info on this bike. Thanks |

AGE / VALUE: '65 Deluxe Sting-Ray

| I just picked up a this '65 Ray at a garage sale. I have verified the date by serial #. It is a (MA-----) December bike. It doesn't have the 3 eyelet bolt-on sissy bar. But has the style used in 66-67 models. Weird that it does'nt look replaced as it appears to be all aged the same. If that makes any sense? Is it possible that this is correct for a late '65 bike, like being transitional into the next years model? Hummmmmm???

RE:AGE / VALUE: '65 Deluxe Sting-Ray
posted by Kevin C. on 1/30/2001 at 7:32:59 PM
| The sissy bar is probably original, even if it isn't the traditional 1965 high-loop. Many Schwinns made in December have a component or two that are "supposed" to be found only on bikes of the following year. |
