Have a bike approxomately 40 years old in great condition but am unable to identify it's maker. It is a 28 inch model with a back pedal brake only and the original leather seat supported by a series of springs. On the back of the seat there is a copper nameplate with Dunlop written on it. The crank, or sprocket as we used to call them has pedal arms that are secured to the sprocket drive with cotter pins. It has a light frame, and mudguards and has a serial number....A 14807. On the front forks there are two embossed logos similar to the logo used by the motor car firm of General Motors. Can anyone help please. Thanks, Mal Tyson by: 203.212.144.26
Photos would be helpful but please describe the components. My guess the brake would say Favorite. Ed by: 64.136.27.226
Hi...thanks for your reply. The rear hub brake has no make stamped on it other than a list of serial numbers and the word "Patented". The front hub has the stamp "British Hub Co. Ltd" with the word "Defiance" underneath by: 203.212.147.231
Hi....the identity of the bike I was looking for is a Speedwell, made in the 1960's and formerly one of Australia's leading brands. Many thanks for your help. Mal by: 58.179.73.46
I have 2 old Treks that I'm going to post to ebay probably Monday. One is a 1st gen. 2200 carbon with polished (rather than painted) "lugs" with less than 500 original miles. The other is a 760 with Reynolds 531 tubing frame and fork, from 1984 with Campy dropouts front and rear, Campy super record headset and bb, both in amazing condition. Call 414.350.9133 for more. I don't check email over the weekend...only at work. Thanks. Brian by: 67.52.58.6
