MISC: Schwinn Tiger 2 speed kickback
posted by: erika
on 4/25/2004 at 10:21:44 PM
I'm trying to sell my vintage Schwinn Tiger, but have NO idea what to ask for it. It's in pretty good shape--the hub was recently rebuilt (its a 2 speed), newer springer forks, handlebars, its black with original checkerboard pattern on the chair guard. Is this worth anything, or should I just give it to the local Salvation Army? Any help is most appreciated! xoxo e.

I have a complete lighting set made in Switzerland, by a company called PHOEBUS. It's in the original box, and is packed in the original packing material. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this company? Ah the mysteries of the Bicycle. Thanks Phil.

I would like an idea on how much a 1972 Schwin Hollywood bike is going for these day's. I have one I might be willing to sell if the price is right. It has coaster brakes. No rear reflector and needs a new rear tire tube. I'm in the Santa Cruz CA area. Anyone have an idea on what to ask for this bike?

I sold a Violet Schwinn Hollywood in 6-7 condition for $100. Violet is a more desirable color. The general rule is that girl bikes don't bring as much money, but some exceptions exist especially if someone wants to have the exact bike they had as a kid.

I would say $0.50to $1.00 maybe a $1.02 if lucky beacause its such a piece of junk i personally would give you $0.16 of that hunk of junk. If i was you I would throw it in the dumpsteer so that you didn't have to embarass your self any more!!!!!! bad luck on selling that hunk of crap!!!

Women seem to love these and I've given a few away to friends. Could I see pictures? '70 and latter models don't often fetch as much money but the Violet ones (from any year) can sell for more. I once paid $165 for a Ladies 26" Hollywood but only because I knew it was exactly what a certain special woman wanted (metalic purple) and because it was so new looking that I doupt it had ever even been riden 10 miles in its life. On the other hand I had possed two almost identical Violet Hollywoods before that one that was given to me and the other that I bought at a yard sale for $35. In the end a bike is worth what some one will pay for it... Send me picture...

| Looking for a Vintage 20" schwinn STYLE frame, doesn't need to actually be a schwinn, would be interested in a Murry, Huffy, etc, so long as its the curvey 3 tube style frame (such as the 1950's - 1960's schwinns) interested peticularly in a bare frame, almost any condtion will do.
also looking for 3 speed style(3 or more gears) 20" back rim, (the type that has the gears inside the hub) would be interested in nearly any condition as well. |

I'm looking for a very nice original Fastback to buy this weekend. I'm only interested in original paint bikes with 8.5 or better paint/chrome/screens and no rips or discoloration in the seat. Basically, I'm looking for a keeper to add to my collection. The right bike with great paint/chrome/screen, in need of a seat will also do as I'm sure they'll be seats to be had at MLC/AA. I'd really like a super nice sky blue 71 three speed fastback if anyone has one they're bringing. Let me know what's coming and maybe post a pic or two. See you all this weekend...

MISC: 1972 Gitane racing style street bike
posted by: George Stein
on 4/18/2004 at 8:16:11 PM
I'm thinking of giving this bicycle to one of my students as a gift. It's been used a bit scratched up, but in great riding shape. I stopped riding it years ago. It's been sitting in my storage room for twelve years of so. Is this a valuable bike or just a nice old bike that I can be comfortable giving away to someone who will be riding it around the streets of NYC?

If this is one with the foil decals, look for a model designation decal near the downtube shift levers. If it is a Professional Tour de France it is kind of valuable, if it is a Professional Super Corsa(all Campagnolo equipped) it is quite valuable. Anything other model is not very valuable and could be given away without regrets. If you can't find the model designation, look for Reynolds 531 frame tubing decal, or remnants of one (probably)near the top of the seat tube. Only the TdF and Super Corsa were made from 531. If it has a cottered crank set it is low end to mid level. If it has a cotterless crankset it is upper end(Stronglight 93 or Sugino Mighty Competition for TdF, Campagnolo Nouvo Record for Super Corsa).
