Anyone ever heard of a Flying Jet? It is a British-made 3 speed bike that looks to be from the early 70s. Any information or website links would be appreciated.

I bought a bike at a antique action that I want to resale, but I don’t know the year, or even close to the value. It’s a Raleigh Tourist, black with red pin stripe.(girls bike). Seat bar I.D. #AE 63924 Hub# AW-9 no date. It has a gear shifter with H-N-L, is this a three speed? The bike looks to be all original with light rust on rims only. Thanks for any help or information you can give me. Dennis Mings (dmings9111@yahoo.com After getting it home, I understand how someone could really get to appreciate and collect these bikes, they sure are neat!

My mother gave me a hand-me-down ladies bicycle back in the mid 1980's. I think she got it in the late '70s or early '80s. I don't remember the brand or model of the bicycle, but I would love to find another for nostalgia-sake. Ladies (down tube) style metallic silver frame, thin tires on large wheels... like 27-28". Metallic royal blue splash/mud guards or fenders, front and back. Curved back handlebars with royal blue grips in a finger grip shape. The seat was a big comfy spring seat... royal blue with red piping along the outside. If you have ANY IDEA of what kind of bicycle it could be, please, please, please email me! Thanks!
Hello all vintage bicycle lovers! Recently I acquired a bike, Schwinn from the 50s but I would like to learn more about it. The entire bike has everything original (I think even the tires made by Goodyear). I have found a serial number but it differs from the Schwinn numbers on this web site because it does not start with a letter. All it says is 12532. This number is on the part that holds the chain and on the bottom of the frame (by the peddals). Can anyone help me please, to maybe get the name of it or the date? Thanks so much
I have figured out that the above bike was made in 1953 and it is either a Heavy Duti or Corvette model. Does anybody know specific characteristics of both. Any help would be appreciated.
Neither the Heavy-Duti nor the Corvette were made in 1953. The Corvette didn't come along until late 1954. If your serial number is under the crank, then the bike is 1951 and earlier. For more on where Schwinn serial numbers are located and what years they translate to, visit this page of my web site. www.bunchobikes.com/serialnumber.htm www.bunchobikes.com
Thank you for your help. I have noticed that there are two different numbers. The same number, 12532, is on the crank shaft(I think that is what you call where the peddals turn)and the part that the chain sits on. Another number, K362181, is on the part of the frame that is near the rear wheel. I don't know the name of this bicycle part but it has Bendix medal plate under it. The number is embossed into the frame, just as the number on the crankshaft. I have looked at the Schwinn serial numbers page but from what I have seen, the bicycle starting with K were made in 1953. So know I am again at the starting point with the model and the year. Please help.
The number on the rear dropout is the serial number. In 1953, the "K" serial numbers were only followed by five digits, not six. So, if you look at the lists on my web site, you will see that K362181 makes your bike an October 25th, 1963 bike. More in line with when the Corvette was offered. BTW, that tube where the crank lives is called the bottom bracket. Look here to see all of the bicycle part names. www.nostalgic.net/database/ListItem.asp?Item=196 www.bunchobikes.com
I want to sincerely thank you for your help. I had a little bit of trouble looking through the serial numbers but you have been wonderful with your assistance. I guess it is early 60s bike. I have spoken with my wife and she is negative towards keeping the bicycle. Does your web site offer a chance to sell this type of bicycle?
