Hi! Can anyone out there please help me identify and then locate and purchase a twenty-inch bicycle like the one I used to have when I was a kid in the seventie's? Instead of the usual one round top tube, this bike has dual parralel bars running from close to the sprocket to the handlebars. If I sound like I don't know that much about bikes, it's because I don't. But I loved this bike and want it back. I want to find one and restore it, then take it for a spin. Any information is greatly appreciated. I have a picture if anyone is interested.
one ? are you a boy or girl it says ''miss'' but you talk about 2 top bars..if so its got to be a sears ..i had the same one..email ill send you a pic...
It could be a huffy,if it is two small bar side by side, where the top bar is,if that is it i have one behide my barn.
Rollfast/Ward's Hawthorne bikes also had double tubes. I'll email a photo of one.
There was the Appollo, which also had double tubes for the top bar.
I finally got around to getting these glitter vinyl krate toolbags made. They are cut out and being sewn together over the next 2 weeks, just in time to take a batch out to the Memory Lane and Ann Arbor shows. I'm going to have available the following: Red Glitter with White Trim Orange Glitter (Original Color) with White Trim Yellow Glitter (Original Color) with White Trim Blue Glitter with White Trim Purple Glitter with White Trim Silver Glitter with Black Trim Silver Glitter with Green Trim Plain White with Black Trim Plain Black with White Trim They will have nickel plated buckles and twist fasteners, but no other markings of any kind. If a person was enterprising....they might take a seat tag off of an old Schwinn 10 Speed seat and rivet it to their new bag.....not that I would advocate that in any way....They are the exact same dimensions as the original krate toolbags. I'm asking $45.00 plus shipping for all colors except orange glitter and yellow glitter, they will be $50.00 plus shipping. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks, Matt
Hi anyone else love their Mavic GEL 280's? I got hit and bent both front and back rims. I tryed to pull the wheels apart and straighten the rims but I can't get them true without making the spoke tension way to high in spots. Is there a source? I tryed the reflex rims but there just not the same. I need a 28 hole and a 32 hole.
I'm looking for some Clement Del Mondo Servizio Corse tires. I built up a set of the wooden rims that performace sold a few years ago for one of my road bikes. I bought 4 of the tires from Oschners and then let them sit around for a while. I just moved to Oregon and the chip seal is rough on the hands using 19mm tires, even tubulers, so I gave them a try. Boy I could kick myself for waiting so long to use them. Guess they knew what they were doing. Long story short Clement went out of business and I'm out of luck finding any more. Is there a source of NOS Clements or is there someone making a tire the same size 700c X 32mm?

I have a chrome J.C.Higgins rear hub that is rather unique. It appears to have several vent type wings that run completely around the hub... Any ideas? Thanks David
That hub is usually refered to as the Elgin finned hub. There is a matching front one as well. If yours says JC Higgins, it was probably put on a bike right after WWII. Sears bikes before the war were sold as Elgins and after the war were JC Higgins. I have run across several early Higgins bikes with Elgin parts. I'm sure they were just using up old stock as they started building bikes again.
Yes...waat Gordon said. They are also called air-cooled hubs. Made by Musselman.
Please see my message in the Balloon Tire Bicycle topic. I am trying to make a list of coaster hubs and the bicycles which used them. Thank you.
Looking for a buyer: 1950 J.C. Higgens Color Flow (Boys)bike.
I have a Schwinn 26" double straight bar frame. I am trying to learn the age and model that the bike was. Any help would be appreciated. The serial #'s are on the rear of the bike.
sounds like a tornado if the two bars are running side by side
WANTED: TRIKE CONVERSION KIT (TO TURN BIKE INTO TRIKE) OR INFO ON WHERE TO FIND ONE... PREFERABLY USED. MANY THANKS, CHRISTIAN GAGGIA-- GOATBASKET@YAHOO.COM
Here is the address of a guy in England that makes the kits you are looking for. http://www.longstaffcycles.co.uk/ They are high end type parts and not cheep. If you just want to build a knock around trike you can buy the parts for the rear axle of a Miami Sun adult trike and they will bolt onto most road bike frames with a little work. The Miami Sun parts are very heavy and will add up to about $200 by the time you get what you need. Its cheeper to look in the paper and buy a complete used bike. Good luck.
