I have recently aquired a Montgomery Wards Hawthorne, 3 wheel bicycle. Or should I say adult tricycle? I am in need of some help determining its age. I have a photo for anyone who might be able to help.
What are the width and height of the tires? That can help narrow the age down to within a decade or two.

Made by The Chicago Welding Company, this bike is all original except for the seat, which is still an antique.I was told it dates back to either "30" or "31". It's in ridable condition, but could stand to have the bearings cleaned & regreased. It's not banged up or dented at all,& could easily be restored to perfection.I'm short of having the time to refurbish it myself.Pictures available on request. If anyone might be interested in it,I'll consider offers.Thank you!

I'm looking for parts for a 1939 black English "Windsor" bicycle, especially a chrome front rim (28"), handle bars and grips, seat, rear reflector and pedals. I would also like to know where I can get spare parts for a 1939 Perry coaster brake or rear hub. Thanks, Garth

Hi, I purchased two old Schwinn bikes this weekend. One is a Liberty and the other is a Hollywood. Both are girls bikes. First, I cannot find a serial number on either bike. Can anyone tell me where to look for the number or if there is one. Next, how can I tell the age. The Liberty looks rather old - and is painted a sort of lavender with blue. I think this is the original color but I am not sure. How can I tell what colors these bikes were originally offered in? The rims on the liberty are not chrome, but are painted a sort of ivory with a blue pin stripe but there is a lot of rust on the rims - so much so that I think they are too damaged for use. This could become an obsession. Any info would be very much appreciated. Best Regards, Darryl
Look for the number stamped into the frame under the crank housing (earlier bikes), or on the frame back where the rear wheel attaches (later bikes). To determine the original paint color, remove the crank and look inside the frame, or take the front forks off and examine the part that has been concealed inside the head tube.
Darry, Don't worry. No one in this hobby gets obsessed, right?
Darryl, you may know that "Hollywood" is a Schwinn model, while "Liberty" is a Schwinn-built headbadge, that is, a separate brand name retailer. Your Liberty could be any of a zillion models made at the Schwinn factory. Interestingly, the only thing on my Liberty, which is a postwar B-607, that isn't Schwinn, is the Liberty headbadge.
