| Hi, Husband came across this ancient looking old Huffy Motorized Bicycle. The serial # is SS-HC2402281. It is now black but was yellow originally it looks like. It si a 3 speed. Motor made by RLine O&R Engines. Tires are 26 x 1 3/8. Can't read his writing well but looks like also says Sportside or something like that? Anyone have an idea if this is worth anything. He wants me to put it on ebay but I sure am hesitant to do this! Any help is appreciated as to year value etc..... by: 207.69.137.23 |
| The bike probably didn't come with the engine on it, originally; so there's no particular reason to keep the two together. Huffys are not particularly desirable to collectors, either. The engine is an Orline, probably from the late '40s or '50s. They changed the name and graphics to "Chicken Power" in the '60s. O&R, maker of the engine, was a pioneer in large-displacement model aircraft engines. The Orline engine is not noted for gobs of power, but it is a cute little engine, of interest to collectors. If you were to restore the bike and engine to original condition, you would have an interesting package, but it probably wouldn't justify spending a lot of money on the restoration. by: 66.108.82.196 |
| Hi, I saw this article you wrote about the engine, I have one on my old schwinn, a Chicken power, but I have no coil or wire to the plug, do you have any idea where I can get one? The motor turns over well, so I think with a coil, it would run, please get back to me, aloha Barry

| Sorry, I have no idea where you could find a replacement coil for it, Barry. Probably your best bet would be to keep checking eBay for a parts engine. Orline and Chicken Power engines show up there occasionally. That's where I bought my Orline. Jim by: 66.108.82.196 |

| While cleaning out a barn that was on my newly aquired property i found a bicycle with the following markings and i cant find out who made it or anything about it? on the changaurd it syas Venus 24X20+3. it has a banana seat with the big bars going up behind the seat i would call them sissy bars. on the neck in front it says gimbels and something else i cant make out. | My husband is thinking of selling his bike stored at his folk's house that was a 26" Raleigh Cyclemaster with rear motor, 2-cycle, girls model with lever style brakes. I think it is from the 60's.
