It's not exactly old school, but... I removed a three-piece crankset from a Haro frame with an ashtabula-style bottom bracket. The whole shebang is as massive as you would think; axle is large diameter, cranks are heavy chrome and clamp to axle, crank interface is hexagonal, chainring held in place by right crank. Is this a common upgrade? Or would it have been factory equipment? Please excuse my ignorance and enlighten me- bmx is not my regular category. by: 209.7.184.147
the parts in question sound like a part that come on the lower end bikes,Haro has made in the last 2 years we call them boat anchors because they are so heavy. Haro made those to compete with the department stores put 3 piece cranks on there bike to make them more desirable to the masses.ap i hope that helps by: 24.173.239.54
My first post here.... I mostly deal with road bikes....but I have picked up a few mountain bikes. Recently I picked up a Trek 820 with ChroMo frame. I looked on e-bay and saw several of them....none of which had got a single bid. Anyway, I think the bike will fix up and make a decent bike. Today, I spotted a Ross. I had never seen one before (I have several Ross road bikes). It was really lightweight. It looked old-school. The triple crankset looked more like a road bike set - nothing like most of the ones you see. It looked like a road set - except that the largest cog was 46t. The shifters looked like regular road bike shifters - just mounted on the handlebar next to the grips. And the handlebar has like a triangle shape welded to the stem. It even had an old computer....which actually still works....it was one of those big bulky ones that requires like AA or AAA batteries. Nothing like the newer ones that require watch batteries. Overall, the bike looked to be in very good mechanical condition. The paint looks a little rough on the top tube - but otherwise - a decent bike. by: 152.163.100.6

I'm only a mom of a BMXer, but my son owns a Robinson GT BMX with 4130 Chromoly forks. He's been told this bike is no longer in production and is worth "a grip". How can we find out if this info is correct? Does anyone know? by: 216.100.68.70
the bike in question is possible worth some thing to someone but with just the discription that you gave us it is hard to give a price on such a bike is it a alloy frame with a 4130 cromo fork , or is it all cromo frame and fork ,also what style of crank set 3 piece or 1 piece and wheels are they alloy or steel hubs and rims what style of spokes are they if they are stainless steel a magnet will not stick to them where regular steel will.ap
Thank you for your reply. The frame is cromo frame and fork. Also the crank set is a 1 piece and the wheels are steel hubs with stainless steel spokes. by: 63.206.140.238

Found a frame today. Mongoose expert looptail with a riveted headbadge. I'm not very good with the old school bmx stuff, but I'll always pick up decent old frames when they are free. When did Mongoose stop doing the headtube gusset? Serial number is: m5eh6078 by: 12.74.75.193
