Any chance that could be Pope and not Rope? I believe Columbia and Pope are somehow tied together in the bike building industry. by: 66.113.47.14
There is a Columbia by Pope Manufacturing Co listed in the Bicycle Brands list on the Wheelmen site http://www.thewheelmen.org/ by: 209.7.150.163
Pope model numbers are in numerical order, a model 49 would be very early, around the turn of the century. The components you discribe are MUCh newer. You may have a very early frame that has been recently modified with incorrect parts. Post a picture. by: 138.26.192.155
Thanks for the information....yes it is from Pope Manufacturing Company.......does it have a value? Anyone interested? by: 67.9.36.38
As noted above, you don't have the original wheels, but it should still be of interest to a collector. You could contact the Wheelmen, or Copake Auctions and see what they think. by: 209.7.150.163
