I just bought an AMF Lancer with the light can still intact for $50. It has a bendix coaster brake with a red stripe around the center. It's been attacked a few times with spray paint, but I'm guessing it was red and white.I was able to read lancer on the side of the can and AMF on the sides of the front forks. I found the serial number on the left rear dropout. M345615 http://www.motoredbikes.com/showpost.php?p=101725&postcount=1 Any info on dating would be awesome. Thanks, Scottm by: 209.30.166.87
It took a little research and the bike is a 62 Roadmaster. If anyone has more info I would be most grateful. by: 209.30.166.87
there are a couple of 60s Roadmasters on nostalgic.net- here's one http://www.nostalgic.net/pictures/1175.htm Is it similar? by: 209.7.150.163
aloha--i recently acquired a schwinn corvette--all in original condition--it is green in color and according to its serial number, it was manufactured in dec of 1953--the only thing missing was the seat post clamp--on ebay there seem to be a couple of different types of seatpost clamps being made which might fit this bike--i know a very little about balloners and almost nothing about middleweights--would appreciate any kokua from anyone who is akamai about schwinn middleweights in general, and schwinn corvettes in particular--will throw in free surfing lessons should you ever make it to our sunny shores--mahalo no kokua--a huihou kakou by: 66.8.232.37
Bruce, I can send you a decent photo of the clamp on a '63 Corvette. I am not how you say akamai but would guess that the bolt head on a '53 would have the AS logo, whereas the '63 just has the S. The nut on these babies didn't change much in those years: it's got a sort of flange that makes it effectively twice as wide, perhaps to keep the wrench out away from the frame a little? email me if you like. by: 209.7.150.163
Uh, like what country are you from? What's akamai, houihoo, kokua, and surfing mean? Sounds like a bunch of kamikazi hooey hooey to me! And didn't, like, Chevrolet make the Corvette, not Schwinn? If Schwinn made it, it would have been a pedal car! Chevrolet made it and it had a 235 cu. in. blue fart 6 cyl.engine in it in 1953. ...so THERE! BOBO by: 64.40.51.67
