Can I replace 26" x 1.75 tires with 26" x 2.125 on a 1960s Schwinn Hollywood? Is it just about making sure the wider tire fits inside the fender without rubbing, or is there something else I should consider? Thanks! by: 192.17.49.18
schwinn tires are unique to schwinn. The wider tire 26X1.25 will not fit schwinn rims and the wider tire probably won't fit between the front fork and may interfere with fenders paul by: 24.147.19.149
I have done what you are suggesting. I used a wheelset from a donor bicycle because as it was noted, 2.125 tires will not fit Schwinn middleweight wheels (S7). I also used some recent production Asian made white wall tires that even though they are marked 2.125, they aren't quite as wide as the old production tires. It took some tweaking of the fender braces and truing of the wheels becuase it was a real close fit, but it can be done. by: 66.113.47.14
I have a Firestone bicycle and am having trouble finding out what it is. I have three numbers: stock # 9-A-273; code # 398-8-17655; serial # K-3o(u?)521(7?)2. Hope that makes sense. Also- it's a single speed, coaster brakes. Stainless steel fenders. Looks like the headlight could be orginal-mounts under the top rail. Original tires are firestone speed cushion 26 x1.75. Book rack. Any info or guesses are welcome! by: 72.174.130.18

I picked up this J.C Higgins bicycle today for $10. First of all I was told it was a 1946 or 48'. How can I verify this? There is a small faded yellow tag with the number 510-235 on the seat tube if thats any help. It has a skip tooth sprocket and chain set up. I will try to post some pictures. Also I am going to need new spokes on it and was wondering where I could purchase some. Thanks! Doug
