I have literally drug this old-timer around because I wanted to restore/ride it. But I have no clue what it actually is or what it is worth. Any ideas?? The only thing I see on it is Schwinn in several places and Cruiser. Thanks. Tanya
Opps.. the photos didn't come thru... try this one below.
It appears to be a Chicago Schwinn; if so, the serial number number chart on this site may help. A more thorough resource is http://www.angelfire.com/rant/allday101/SchwinnCodes1.html It's not a collector item but it's probably a cadillac compared to many- ride it and enjoy by: 209.7.150.163

I just bought this Schwinn Bike . I was told this was a 1950s 26" cruiser Firestone . I can't seen to find any photos similar to mine . Also under the crank housing are the following numbers ...178-9-153, these do not match any of the Schwinn numbers posted. I can't locate any other number on the bike eg steering neck or at the rear plate where the axle slips into . I have included pictures if that will help . Tire size is 26 x 2.125 . Thanks Ian
I might add I was also told this was a Deluxe model . What head badge (name plate ) is required . Mounting holes are at 12 and 6 . Ian by: 69.157.71.14
I can't get your photo to work, but it doesn't sound like you have a Schwinn. Monark made a lot of the Firestone bikes, try looking at photos of Monarks in the database. Dayton also made Firestone. by: 66.113.47.14
Thanks Gord I haven't tried Dayton yet . I did notice on the steering bearing cap Schwinn is stamped on it . I just tried the link for the photos on a different computer ( and location) it seemed to work OK . not sure why you couldn't connnect . Ian by: 206.172.98.3
I looked at the pics but wished for more detail. Especially, closeups of the rear dropouts, the chainwheel and the gooseneck and headtube. It may well be a pastiche. If it is Schwinn built it would seem to be old, with the bolt-on kickstand and the serial under the BB, although if Schwinn used any hyphenated numbers it's news to me. Deluxe Schwinns of that era had tanks, lights etc. Any mounting holes in the front fender? Any AS icons on bolt heads? by: 209.7.150.163
Thanks Ken All the bolts have been replaced at some time so no AS markings at all . There is a hole in the front fender that looks factory drilled . The serial numbers are throwing me off , I thought maybe they were casting numbers at first . I'll try next week to get some close up pictures . Thanks again Ian by: 206.172.98.168
I recently purchased an adult tricycle and want to know more about it. The only print on the bike is on the chain guard and it says Ballet II. Can anyone tell me who made this bike? Thanks! by: 64.81.42.158
