I have an early 1960's model JC Penney Foremost bike that was my mom's. I have decided to fix it back to original, or as close as possible. I was wondering if there were any sites or stores that I'd be able to get parts for this bicycle from? Any help would be greatly appreciated. by: 75.137.242.92
can anyone give me an approx year on the elgin pictured below? its a skiptooth and doesn't look as if it ever had a tank attached. thanks!
IMO, 1936 ±2. I looked at some pics on nostalgic.net... seems like that's about as late as they used that chainwheel. Take a look: http://www.nostalgic.net/index.asp?S=arc/bicycles/1930%27s+Elgin+Motobike+red+1%2Ejpg There's a few in their list with the balloon tires and recurved fenders from that era. But some of them are only dated as "1930s" so that's a start. by: 209.7.150.163
thanks ken. I just found this picture over there today: http://www.nostalgic.net/index.asp?S=arc/bicycles/1936+Elgin%2Ejpg so I'd agree with the 1936. I've got a bit of work to do... by: 128.231.88.5
Just purchased a RED and WHITE Vintage THUNDERJET Bike. Looking to see if it is worth restoring. I bought it as I have never seen one before and the front tag reads THUNDERJET AMERICAN MADE. It has a brown SADDLE TYPE Seat with springs that says SCHWINN. NOT RIPS OR TEARS. WHITE GRIPS AND RIMS. HAS A CHRME LIGHT MOUNTED ON THE FRONT RED FENDER. Fenders have Dual white pin stripes. The tank has a real cool ART DECO THNDERJET LOGO painted on it with a small UFO painted below it.. BIKE LOOKS COOL.. TIres say Super Deluxe in black raised rubber lettering Chain guard reads SUPER DELUXE in White.. Any info would be greatly appreciated.. by: 75.130.21.89
