| I was given a old Ross trying to find out the year it was made serial # is 5413514 it is a 24" ballon bike has a red white and blue metal symbol in the front, metal spring on front fork, this bike has a very large chain guard. I hand blasted the frame(it was repainted metalic purple) from what I can tell the fork where white the frame was black and the chain guard was red The tires which I think are vintage where made in Penn. and have a print of a chief on the side walls by: 4.229.210.139 |
| I just picked up 4 Bikes for 100 bucks. One is a Schwinn Wasp that has been covered in whats look like old brick red Porch Paint, Kind of peels off. I am trying to tell the year but am somewhat confused with the serial number matching up to the charts I have found. Serial Number# D08316. Does anybody know the exact year of this bike. Is there a trick to getting the latex paint off. The original color looks to be blue. I will get some Pics up this Weekend. | Your Schwinn Wasp is from April 1960. As far as taking the frame down to the OG without ruining it is a time-consuming process in itself; you can try degreaser diluted with water as I am with my '70 that someone drowned the original green with silver, but remember: It's a process.
