So I got hold of a Persons Majestic Siren but was not in a position to test the item before purchase. This is my first experience with this type of accessory and I have the all the mounting hardware and as far as I can tell (from looking at online pictures of the model) the sound making mechanism is complete as well. It spins well (mounted against a tire or just in my hand) so the bearings are in good shape but it won't make any siren noise! I have heard these before at Bike Swaps so I know what police siren-esque sound is supposed to come out. I even took it off the bike and ran it against my electric drill to get it up to really high speed....and no siren noise at all. Is this a common problem for these old sirens and is it fixable? Are there tell-tale signs I should look for to see if I am missing some integral piece? Any advice/experience that you want to pass along would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time. by: 67.180.207.92
You have to get them going really fast, and I think the wheel friction and wind adds to the sound. Either put it on a bike and find a hill, or you can get a little sound out of it by winding a string around the drive and pulling it. by: 138.26.156.139
This may sound dumb, but do you have it on the correct side of the bike so it is traveling in the correct rotation? I think if you are sitting on the bike it mounts on the right side of the front wheel. by: 165.234.9.92
Does any1 know the age of a schwinn speedster single speed middleweight with a serial # begins with JO by: 64.12.117.7
Schwinn didn't use the letters "i" or "o" in their serial numbers to avoid confusion with one and zero. Can you recheck the second letter of your s/n? by: 66.113.47.14
It could be that 'O' is an actual zero('0')combined with the 'J' meaning that your Speedster was made in September 1960; how many #s follow the single letter? It should be six digits. by: 199.179.239.93
I have an old roadmaster in poor condition missing some parts I want to know its value and weather it is worth restoring. by: 69.150.46.238
We need a lot more info before answering those questions. Is it a boys bike or a girls? What size tires? Does it have a tank, carrier, light??? What condition is the paint? What head badge does it have? All this information is important to help establish value. by: 66.113.47.14
I have a schwinn Mesinger bike. I can not find anything about the bike anywhere. It is a 2 speed automatic and it is in fairly good shape. It is all original except perhaps the tires. The seat says Mesinger and the serial # is DB43290 it also say it is a 2-speed automatic Made in USA I would really appreciate some answers. by: 70.142.56.7
According to the serial number chart, it was a 1966 bike. Pictures would help determine your model. I tried your email to ask for pics, but it didn't go through. Marc by: 206.207.104.192
Mesinger is not a Schwinn model. That is the brand of the seat. Look in the Picture Database on this site to determine the model. by: 205.179.119.99
