| Hi...this may be an odd request, but I am looking for a vintage bike to use for a garden accent. I prefer a Western Flyer, as this is the bike that my husband has (and refuses to let me "plant it" Ha!) I simply want to park it against a tree, fill the basket with flowers, and let some ivy grow around its tires. I don't need a top quality bike, obviously, but just decent condition with some eye appeal. If anyone has this type bike, or knows where I might find one, please let me know. Thanks! | Try getting a used modern cruiser bike on www.craigslist.org - spray some paint on it the same color as his Western Flyer, and stick it out there. I don't think you'll have much luck with any of us bike collectors - we prefer to rescue rusty bikes out of backyards, not throw them right back to wastefully rot away. -Kurt by: 152.163.100.198 |
Renee, I have an old Western Flyer (early 1960's) that was owned by my aunt. It is in good condition and should work well for your garden. Please reply if you are interested. Thanks, Anthony by: 70.144.206.172
Looking for a source for white bicycle tires. 26x2.125 by: 63.74.149.97
You should try your local bicycle shop (not WalMart). I found immediately for about $15 per tire which was a little cheaper than eBay and I didn't have to pay for shipping. by: 12.72.22.165
Recently bought this 26" Murray frame off of eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=35961&item=6532524612&rd=1 Features a 5 digit serial number on the left dropout and just beside the serial, in a similar stamping, the letter/numbers "10 X 10". I've found that this frame type was used on the Murray Missile model, however, I haven't found any other information regarding how to date this bike, or any other model it could possibly be. Would also be interested to know what color schemes were available on this frame. Take care, -Kurt by: 152.163.100.202
