HI I'M SELLING MY 1936 MONARK SILVER KING ON EBAY ID# 6510141735 by: 64.228.185.84
I just purchased an old vintage Hawthorne basket case on ebay. It needs a ton of work. I am looking for original style rims to fit this bike. Seller states that it is at least 60-80 yrs. old. It looks it! How much should I plan on spending to do a comprehensive restoration on this bicycle? Will it be worth it in the end? Do you know where I can get appropriate photos to use as guides? Who is a good vendor to source parts from? by: 24.11.65.155
If you can email me a photo or post a photo here, I may be able to help determine the year. I may also have some parts available for the bike. If you do the resto work yourself you can keep the cost to a minimum - hiring it out can be spendy. If you are fixing up the bike as an investment, it probably won't be worth it unless it is an exceptional Hawthorne like a Zep. by: 165.234.9.107
thanks for the reply. If you look up Ebay item # 4520921296 you will see pic's of and sellers over blown discription of this basket case ,26" Hawthorne bicycle I purchased. It is VERY rough, and will need a ton of work. One of the very interesting features it has, is that it does have a real springer style fork. This bike is a skip tooth type as well. I realize that it isn't probably very rare or worth a whole lot. It intrigued me, so I bought it. I'll have to decide just what I will do with it. by: 24.11.65.155

I don't know much about the Monark badge, but I found an older 5-bar that's fairly complete, and I was wondering on the desirability of this bike. How rare is it? How hard would it be to find a part for it? What years were they made? etc. Any info would be appreciated. Does anyone have a restored example that I could see a pic of? Thanks for your help! by: 168.103.128.85
